Chapter 1 : Faithful Managers: Investing with Their Values

Many people invest, but, according to Gotthardt, few understand the truth of investing: It is a means to an end. "Investing money is the process of committing resources in a strategic way in order to accomplish a specific objective," he writes. "If done properly, investing will take you from where you are to where you want to go." What does this mean for the Christian who desires to be a faithful manager of the resources God provides? While details vary from person to person, there are four core values that faithful managers hold concerning stewardship. According to Gotthardt, we want to invest money in a clear (1) vision and a quality (2) strategy based on the (3) values of the faithful manager, desiring the (4) rewards of faithful management. In his opening chapter Gotthardt outlines these building blocks that in the end will lead to faithful investing.
